Hi,
Andrew Koblick from Amazing Guitar here.
In part one we learned how to use simple hammer ons using the C, F and G chords
In this lesson we will learn hammer on techniques for
A, D and E chords.
I have prepared a video lesson for you.
You will be creating Suspended chords
What is a suspended chord?
The simple standard Chord is made up of 3 notes
1. The "Root" or Do (Also #1 in theoretical terms) which is the name of the chord.
So a A chord has a "A" note as the lowest tone.
The notes of the scale as denoted:
Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti (or Si)
Each of the eight notes in a scale has a name:
2. The third note of the scale or "Mi" or Mediant
3. The firth Note of the scale or "So" or Dominant
The notes of the C Major Scale: C d e F G a b C
The C Major Chord= C e G
Where did we get off on this tangent?? Oh yes Suspended Chords
A Suspended chord is simply substituting the 2nd or 4th note of the scale in place of the 3rd note.
Here is a tab that will give you an idea of what I mean:
A Major Chord
e[]------------------[]
B[]----2--3--2-------[] Here we substitute the D or 4th note
G[]----2--2--2-------[]
D[]----2--2--2-------[]
A[]----0--0--0-------[]
E[]------------------[]
D Major Chord
e[]----2--3--2-------[]Here we substitute the G or 4th note
B[]----3--3--3-------[]
G[]----2--2--2-------[]
D[]----0--0--0-------[]
A[]----0--0--0-------[]

E Major Chord

B[]----0--0--0-------[]
G[]----1--1--1-------[]
D[]----2--2--2-------[]
A[]----2--0--2-------[]Here we substitute the A or 4th note
