Its time we finally put those cell phones to a good cause. How I ended up in the emergency room.
I was in a lot of pain. But as I lay there I overheard some of the ER staff talking about the Earthquakes in Haiti. That is when it hit me that even though I was in the most pain I had felt
in a long time. I was surrounded by all the modern day luxuries.
I fell out of bed…. right onto my neck. It felt like I did some major damage so we called 911.
The Paramedics were there in 6 minutes. The Police and an ambulance arrived maybe 5 minutes later.
I had an entire team helping me into the Ambulance making sure I was comfortable and everything
was the way it should be.
I was then brought to the emergency room and put on a nice comfortable bed.
2 nurses helped me get comfortable and took my blood pressure.
After resting for 30 minutes they took an exray of my chest with
state of art equipment. After another 30 minutes. They took a Cat Scan.
And It was very painful to move. In total I would say 16 people were involved in my care.
Why do I bring this up. Well today as the pictures of the suffering in Haiti were on the TV
I realized just how lucky I was and how bad off the Haitians are.
There is massive suffering and death and destruction.
They need our help.
The average person won’t have anyone to help them.
There is no water, electricity, or other utilities.
Caregivers to those in need is probably 1 caregiver to 1,000 in need.
So this blog entry is for one thing to ask for donations for Haiti.

This is very real, and easy to do. I also posted it on my Facebook page. A simple “click” can make a very real difference. Go for it!

I don’t have a cell phone but I went ahead and donated on the website. It is easy either by cell or using the Red Cross website. On the Red Cross website they also take Amazon payments. Also please pray for Haiti as well since this helps too and keep one for Andrew as well. Like Greg says, “Go for it!”

This is the best “musical” instruction that you could give. Thanks for focusing on this critical issue and presenting how fortunate we in America are to have such great healthcare and the resources to help in this time of great need. Again, thanks for bringing this critical issue to the forefront.

I’ve just donated to Doctors Without Borders for their Haitian relief efforts. You’re doing a great thing at a time when you might be understandably and appropriately self-involved. Recover well and quickly.

Hello,Andrew, Sorry to hear of your accident, and am even more devastated to hear of Haiti’s. I just donated through my cell-phone Co.in Trinidad & Tobago(b-mobile).We,too, are doing what we could. By the Grace of God,we’ll all get through this. Peace, and a speedy recovery!

Andrew,
I am sure God will bless you with a speedy recovery because of your concerns and actions for others. I had heard about the phone donation, but had not taken action until I read your inspiring email. We must all keep Haiti in our prayers.

Andrew,
God bless you for taking the time to let people know about this. I picked up the phone and called the Red Cross to make a larger contribution (1-800-733-2767) … something funny was either going on with my browser, or something was up with the SSL on their server. Hope you get well soon!

Thanks, Andrew, for spurring me on. I used their webform to send money to their International Response
Fund rather than my cell (yes, my cell account is archaic and I get charged for incoming as well as outgoing text messages). The Red Cross site said to use the IRF link to earmark money for Haiti.
Don, I couldn’t get their script to work through Firefox, but it did with Explorer. The Red Cross needs better web designers…
The domino effect of those concrete slab houses and buildings has created an horrendous situation. I wish them all peace, because it is, unfortunately, likely that a lot will succumb to their injuries no matter how much we can do. Nature is indeed cruel sometimes.

Your site was extremely interesting, especially since I was searching for thoughts on this subject last Thursday.

Way to go! I am glad there are people like you. The majority of Americans don’t even know how lucky they are and how easy they have it here.
